Kate‘s comment last week regarding content “above the fold” reminded me of my posts from last year on making an impact in less than 30 seconds and tools for more effective blogging. I realized that I hadn’t evaluated my own blogs in the intervening 18 months since I wrote those posts. Much to my surprise, …

A blogging proposition
I’m curious about how many of the people who pass through here actually even look at the posts. So, I have a proposition: leave me a comment, include a bit about what your blog is about, and I’ll swing by your blog, read at least one post, and if I have something nice to say …
Outage
I apologize to anyone who had problems accessing the blog and related sites today. Heavy rains in the area knocked out our Internet connection for about 6 hours. We’re back up for now, but the rains are expected to continue, so please bear with us.
Less Comment Spam
Comment spam has been on the rise lately, and I’ve been deploying anti-spam software on the blogs to counteract the recent increase in spam activity. Screen Size Tester – check what your page looks like on different sized screens. While this tool does not simulate different browsers or include the blog explosion banner, …

I’ve been having a great time surfing Blog Explosion; there are some truly interesting and wise people blogging out there. It goes without saying that there are also some crackpot and opportunist blogs out there. But one of the really frustrating things are blogs that don’t give their audience a chance to discover their worth. …

Blogs updated to WordPress 1.5
I’m pretty much finished with the technical work of upgrading both blogs to WordPress 1.5. There were a few warts in the process, but I think everything is pretty much working now. I still need to find a better theme for this blog, but the photoblog is better then ever. Let me know if you …
