A blogging proposition

I’m curious about how many of the people who pass through here actually even look at the posts. So, I have a proposition: leave me a comment, include a bit about what your blog is about, and I’ll swing by your blog, read at least one post, and if I have something nice to say I’ll even leave a comment.

So, any takers?

  1. Well, I haven’t passed by your blog before, so I can’t tell you if I would normally read your posts, but, I did read this post – proven!

I’m not very geeky at all, and just hope that my computer works when I turn it on each day. πŸ™‚

My blog is often for fun, but also often for rants about seriosus topics, when I have time – much the same approach as a lot of blogs, in other words.

  3. Well, I did actually read your blog! As far as shooting RAW, I don’t think I can tap into that with my Canon. It seems to only have JPG. I had an old Casio I could use with RAW format and I preferred it.

  5. I’ve always wondered the same thing… if people actually read any of the blogs or if they are just randomly clicking for points. I admit that sometimes, I just click through myself. Mainly, I like to actually read what other people have to say.

  7. I too have never seen your blog before. I’m stumbling in from Blog Explosion. But it looks good. You kind of do the same thing I do, blog about everything. I do links a lot, and I’m a big Firefox evangelist. If that doesn’t annoy you too much, check out my blog.

  9. Hi from old friend,

Not too often, but now and then I stop by your blog to see what you are up to. And I even read the posts. I’d say, “check out my blog”, but of course as you may have guessed, I don’t have one :).

  11. Well, you know I’m in that class of crazy geeks who actually know what an RSS aggregator is, so I read the posts without being “here” at all, but I’m a little confused… why would people be here and not read the posts?

  13. Ah Kevin, my friend, that would be because of traffic exchange sites.

You visit blogs through a traffic exchange, and they send bloggers to you.

The net result is a bunch of (apparently) empty traffic. In the last 2.5 hours I’ve had 48 unique visitors, and just 4 takers on a pretty simple (and frankly decent value versus a traffic exchange) proposition.

Truthfully, I surf the exchanges mostly to see what the blogging segment of America is thinking. It’s pretty much my way of getting a quick dose of the “other” side. And whenever I do surf the exchanges my traffic numbers shoot up, but there is rarely any comments. One or two visitors will comment at most. Now since it might just be that people are more voyeuristic than participatory, I thought I’d run my little experiment.

The outlook is starting to get grim. We’ll see how it goes during the day, but I don’t expect much with the long holiday week-end upon us…

  15. Breezing thru via BlogMad. I did read your post re: using raw vs jpeg, and I must say that I think I’ll try it. If I can figure out how. I really, really need to look at the manual that came with my camera. Really. πŸ™‚

  17. Great Blog! Easy to read. Well written. Great colors! Be optimistic. When you have something worthwhile to contribute tons of people will read it and be back for more.

  19. Hey Sandro! This is your old pal Reza from GU (now a resident of the cow town…)
Just wanted to say that I really enjoy reading your blog and actually I’ve recommended it to quite a few people. Sorry that I didn’t leave a comment earlier, but I hate typing. As a matter of fact, I still type with two fingers while looking at the keyboard πŸ™ I really need a thought translation device instead of these primitive input devices – but NOT this one if you’re thinking about a nice BDay gift for me:

And my birthday is in Jan, just in case… πŸ™‚

Keep up the good work and keep in touch!

  23. Well, I do read the posts. Generally, I don’t post comments unless there’s something I REALLY want to say. On your blog… well, I’m still running Windows mainly because I game alot and they just don’t put alot of games on *NIX or Macs. Besides, my wife would kill me if I suddenly put an OS on the computer that she didn’t know how to work. And I like living.

  25. Hey, came across your site via BlogMad (I’m just one of many, I’m sure). Personally, I try and read at least a couple posts on every site I hit, just for variety and in the off chance I find something that peaks my interest. Your site looks good! And I really like your writing style. This latest post was a clever experiment. πŸ˜€

  27. I read the first paragraph of each post, then usually read the whole thing because you have good stuff here, and I know ya!

I only read about every two or three days though, as time allows. Pretty tightly wound up on the Virginia political races and work (which is busy these days).

I blog about things I think my friends and family want to hear about – blogging is a useful broadcast medium. I read friend’s blogs to stay apprised of what’s going on in their lives, and I have become friends with a blogger or two I never met because they write such amazing stuff (in my mind) that they warrant getting to know them more.

  29. Hi, I just joined Blogclicker’s traffic exchange site, so I have never seen your blog before, but I did read this post! Actually, I’m really, really new to the blog scene (wow, that looks even cheesier in print) and I’m still rather confused about the whole thing. I live in Japan and am trying to study sake and wine, Japanese, and Spanish, so this month I started writing a blog about food, wine, sake, restaurants/bars in Tokyo, and my experiences. Hopefully the people who stop by will read it, and maybe come back sometime.

  33. I actually do read a few posts when I use something like Blogmad or Blogexplosion. My blog is just a personal blog – random thoughts throughout the day, photos, etc.
