I’ve started a separate blog to chronicle my journey towards a healthy lifestyle. You can find it at: http://sandro.knot.org/health I’m guessing the day-to-day posts are going to be pretty mundane, but your encouragement and support would be appreciated.

Sick
Full blown flu (103 degree temp, etc). Probably H1N1 since one of the girls was down with it last week. I’m pretty miserable. Update: 24 hours later, I’m feeling much better but still somewhat feverish nevertheless up and around. Which is good since Kim is now a full-blown flu victim, and little boo is trending …
One Week on the Brink
Last week has been tough on the whole family. We’ve been to the ER twice, and straight to the doctor’s office once. Last Sunday night I managed to drop the hot tub cover on my foot. I managed to limp through the whole day Monday, but by Tuesday morning I was in extreme pain. At …
Fat
I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been (approx. 285lbs). Sigh. Time to really make a change. I’m going to try to post regularly to see if I can humiliate myself thinner.
Cholesterol Numbers
My latest blood work is back, and I have new cholesterol numbers: Triglycerides: 121 HDL Cholesterol: 41 VLDL Cholesterol: 24 LDL Cholesterol: 57 Total Cholesterol: 122 Sweet! Total cholesterol is down from about 214, which is a pretty massive reduction (thanks to Lipitor).
New Year’s Update
Happy New Year! I suppose now is as good a time to post a general update as any. Here’s a potpourri of random things going on in my world. Health: I’m fighting a cold (that I’ve also managed to give to Kim), but otherwise I’m doing pretty well. I start cardiac rehab next week (delayed …
Thanksgiving in New York
First order of business, “Miss I” is really named Kim. Since just about everyone now knows that we’re together, there’s little point in keeping the pretense up any longer. Fresh out of surgery and with staples still holding me together, we made the trip to Long Island, NY to have Thanksgiving with her family. All …
Back to Normal
Well, not really. The days right after getting out of the hospital were pretty painful. I was being pretty cautious with the painkillers, and the result was that I under-medicated more than once. The pain was bad enough to wake me from sleep; and getting through that first day before Missi got my prescription filled …
Recovery (continued)
Saturday after surgery went really well. After managing two laps of the floor on Friday and minor progress on my ability to process food, I was changed to solid food for lunch Saturday. I don’t think hospital food ever tasted so good. I wrapped up the day with a few (walking) laps of the floor. …
Recovery (again)
I’m currently chillin’ in recovery after what was an apparently very successful operation. We won’t have the results of the biopsy for a couple of weeks (when they’ll also remove my 30+ staples), but otherwise I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. I’m currently on a clear diet (broth, jello, juice, etc). Which is …
