Portrait: Scott #2

Portrait: Scott #2

I have two reasons for uploading this second portrait of Scott.  First, it proves that I can take a more traditional portrait, as opposed to some of my more stylized work.  And second, I get to bump my own mug off the front page.  This photo was about 3 stops under-exposed, and corrected in Photoshop.

Portrait: Self

Portrait: Self

I promised to create another self-portrait, and here’s the best of the latest attempt.  I’ve apparently developed a crooked smirk at some point in the last few years.  I’ll admit that part of the timing of this photo is to provide a decent photo for my Onion Personals profile.

Looking Aloft

Looking Aloft

An old adage has it that, “the devil himself would make a good sailor, if he could only tie a bowline and look aloft.” I don’t know about the devil, but I’ve rarely had a chance to set foot on tall ships more the less venture into the rigging. But nonetheless here is a view “looking aloft” aboard the full-rig Cisne Branco.

Juxtaposed Lines

Juxtaposed Lines

The head truss of 100 East Pratt Sreet as seen through the rigging of the tall ship Cisne Branco.  I like the juxtaposition of old technology with new, but oddly enough the modern building is 8 years older than the boat.

Liftoff

Liftoff

A mallard in the first moments of flight. I’m not terribly found the composition, but the motion of the wings seems to have created a mezmerizing blur. Maybe I’ll re-crop it later, and see if I like the image more…
