As part of the Volvo Ocean Race visit, the smaller Volvo Extreme 40’s are in town doing races in port. Here the Hilfiger 40 reaches across the wind in front of the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
The Volvo Ocean Race has come to Baltimore and along with it the Baltimore Waterfront Festival is hosting a number of tall ships in the Inner Harbor. The bow of the Brazilian full riggged ship Cisne Branco is a popular vantage point with festival visitors.
Last November Kybx and I had the great pleasure of riding the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad in Allegany County. The cool, damp day at the height of fall colors made it slippery going for the 1916 Baldwin 2–8–0 Steam Engine, but we eventually made the trip from Cumberland, MD up to the small town of Frostburg, MD and back again. I made this photo on the turntable that reverses the steam engine’s direction at the Frostburg Station.
