I just posted a quick list of some of my long-term goals.
I’m going to try to pull some of the more tractable one, or first steps for bigger ones, into the 101 things list. You comments are welcome!

ah hell….there is a place in virginia that does the skydive thing. Lets do it in spring when the weather warms up a bit. I was going to do it back in 96 but I was working at borders and the 300.00 price tag scared the lot of us off.

Sounds like a plan. If I remember right. there’s also a place in MD up near Timonium/Hunt Valley.

I didn’t know the North Pole was part of the North American plate. Neat.

Are you looking for crew to sail around the world? Give me a couple of years notice and I’ll learn to sail!! We could bring guitars with us and do goals at once.

The north pole is actually covered with sea ice, and isn’t on a land mass. So in point of fact (and depending on who you ask), it is traditionally considered in international waters, but might be reasonably assigned to Europe, Asia, or North America. If global warming continues on it’s current trends, we might see an international dispute over sea rights to the area.
The nearest coastline is in Greenland (and would make it part of Europe I suppose, but Greenland’s proximity to Canada might make that an interesting debate.

I’m always looking for crew π
The around the world trip is actually more like 15 years away. But oddly enough this is the right time to think about starting towards that goal if you want to join in. There are likely to be at least 3 major trips leading up to the eventual goal:
US – Bahamas (approx. 4 years from now)
US – Brazil/Chile (or possibly a rounding at Cape Horn) (approx. 7 years from now)
Trans-Atlantic Crossing (approx. 10 years from now)
I hate to say it, but to make crew for the big trip, it’s probably going to be necessary to get started this coming year. I’ve been at it for almost 15, and I’m going to be hard-pressed every year to keep this schedule. Seriously this is the most perilous item on my long-term goals list, and even experienced crew have perished on these types of trips. A perfect example of what can go wrong is documented here.
If you’re still interested, you’re welcome to come sailing with me anytime, and we’ll get you started on your training π
